How Did Solution Focused Therapy Help Me?
Personal experience has shown me that positive and long-lasting change is achievable, no matter how bad things may seem. This has made me passionate about helping others to thrive, to make lasting change in their lives and to improve their wellbeing.
I’m passionate about Solution Focused approaches because I have found them to be far more empowering for my clients and we generally get results much quicker. I cannot abide the thought of anyone having to be ‘in therapy’ for months without an understanding of the potential solutions available to them. I want my clients out there, thriving and enjoying their lives.
Working without judgement of what is happening or has gone before is vital. My mission is to educate and empower others to realise the outcomes that they want to achieve. I approach this by aiming to heal the person in preference to fixing a specific problem. In this way, you will be better equipped to deal with issues that may crop up in the future.
As walking the talk is such an intrinsic part of who I am, I found that high pressure, fast paced city living no longer served me. I realised that it would not be conducive to my purpose of wanting to help others to heal so I took the decision to move to Weston-super-Mare, from Bristol, 10 years ago and set up my practice here in 2018. It was so important, as part of my own journey, to experience a better quality of life where I can be walking up in the woods or on the beach in less than 10 minutes. I love living near the coast and looking out at the ocean (when the tide is in)!
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through regular training is a vital part of any therapist’s journey to ensure they keep up to date with the latest relevant research. I have regular supervision sessions with an accredited supervisor.
I am fully insured and having a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate is something that is extremely important to me as it enables me to work with children and vulnerable adults.
