About Angie Hayes DSFH, HPD, SFBT

Clinical Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist and Solution Focused Brief Therapist in Weston-Super-Mare

So why work with Angie?

I am a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist and Solution Focused Brief Therapist.

My Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy training was undertaken at the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training School (CPHT), an accredited centre of excellence in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and a leading UK Government recognised teaching authority.

I undertook my Solution Focused Brief Therapy training with BRIEF International in conjunction with Elliott Connie and have continued my training being mentored by Elliott.

How did I arrive here?

I worked in the Financial Services industry for 19 years and the drinks industry for 11 years prior to that.  Throughout my working life I have had the opportunity to develop and successfully utilise an extensive range of coaching skills that I am able to bring into my therapy practice today alongside my newly acquired knowledge.

Working within large corporations has given me a real appreciation of how important it is to be doing a job you truly love and that resonates with your core values.  I am very fortunate to have found my calling and can honestly say I LOVE WHAT I DO because helping others to heal themselves tends to solve the issues that they have and I feel grateful and blessed to be a part of that journey.

Having had my fair share of ups and downs in life I had always considered myself to be a highly resilient and resourceful person, getting through some pretty tough circumstances on my own.  My journey with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy started in my mid-forties when I had issues with my physical health and was forced to make changes in my life that were totally unplanned.  Things I had taken for granted were taken away from me and it was really tough to find a way forward on top of being unwell.  This started to be reflected in my mental health.

At this point I genuinely couldn’t see a way through and I honestly didn’t think I would be in a position to lead a happy and fulfilling life again.

I wasn’t sure how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy might help me or what the outcome would be but I knew I had to make a decision and get the right support to get my life back on track.  This time I didn’t feel I could get through another trauma on my own.

As someone who has always been outcome focused, getting a great sense of achievement from reaching goals, seeing things through and doing them to the best of my ability, the Solution Focused approach resonated with me.  I just hadn’t known it existed until I started reaching out to get help that was right for me.

Since being introduced to Solution Focused Hypnotherapy I haven’t looked back and as soon as I was able to, I took the opportunity to change career direction once more to do something I really love and to help others.

How Did Solution Focused Therapy Help Me?

Personal experience has shown me that positive and long-lasting change is achievable, no matter how bad things may seem.  This has made me passionate about helping others to thrive, to make lasting change in their lives and to improve their wellbeing.

I’m passionate about Solution Focused approaches because I have found them to be far more empowering for my clients and we generally get results much quicker.  I cannot abide the thought of anyone having to be ‘in therapy’ for months without an understanding of the potential solutions available to them.  I want my clients out there, thriving and enjoying their lives.

Working without judgement of what is happening or has gone before is vital.  My mission is to educate and empower others to realise the outcomes that they want to achieve.  I approach this by aiming to heal the person in preference to fixing a specific problem.  In this way, you will be better equipped to deal with issues that may crop up in the future.

As walking the talk is such an intrinsic part of who I am, I found that high pressure, fast paced city living no longer served me.  I realised that it would not be conducive to my purpose of wanting to help others to heal so I took the decision to move to Weston-super-Mare, from Bristol, 10 years ago and set up my practice here in 2018.  It was so important, as part of my own journey, to experience a better quality of life where I can be walking up in the woods or on the beach in less than 10 minutes.  I love living near the coast and looking out at the ocean (when the tide is in)!

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through regular training is a vital part of any therapist’s journey to ensure they keep up to date with the latest relevant research. I have regular supervision sessions with an accredited supervisor.

I am fully insured and having a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate is something that is extremely important to me as it enables me to work with children and vulnerable adults.
